E-book Purchase Bonus SS: The Camera and the Eccentric Best Friend
“By the way, Tsukki, have you already decided on a club or something?”
After school. When Yuuri asked, her best friend Hitomi tilted her head in confusion.
“Huh? I’m already in a club, aren’t I?”
“Eh?”
She spoke as if Yuuri had already joined too. Without a hint of guilt, Hitomi replied like this.
“There’s already the Yuuri Admiration Club, right?”
Her smile practically screamed, We’ve been doing this together for years, what are you even saying?
“I don’t know anything about that, and don’t just make up a club like that!”
“Oh! Yuuri, that expression’s great too. A rare Yuuri moment. Like a flame flickering in Siberia’s permafrost!”
What kind of thing was she trying to make using someone’s name? As Yuuri raised her voice, Hitomi was snapping photos of her with her smartphone.
—Honestly, how serious is she even being…
Letting out a sigh, Hitomi checked her photo folder while saying,
“Hmm, I’m not really interested in any club other than the Yuuri Club, so I’ll pass. It’s not like Kuwa High makes joining a club mandatory or anything.”
Yuuri had thought the idea that every student had to join a club was just something from anime, but apparently, some schools did have that rule. Mostly the athletic ones, though.
“So why are you making something with my name…?”
Holding her head in her hands, Yuuri watched as Hitomi laughed brightly.
“I’d rather try getting a part-time job, y’know?”
“A part-time job, like an actual job?”
“Yup. Maybe a cute café with nice uniforms or a family restaurant? I kinda want my own camera.”
Surprised by the unexpectedly sensible answer, Yuuri’s eyes widened.
“Huh, well, Tsukki, you are pretty good at taking photos.”
“Just amateur stuff, right? Smartphones are fine for now, but if I wanna take proper shots, I’d need something like a DSLR.”
Making a rectangle with her hands, Hitomi spoke. She might seem carefree, but this best friend had a solid sense of self. Yuuri genuinely respected that about her.
“Is there something specific you want to photograph?”
Yuuri would soon regret that careless question.
“…? Is there anything other than Yuuri?”
“Ah, right…”
For better or worse, this best friend never wavered.
“Still, a part-time job, huh…”
The slight spark of interest it stirred in her, Yuuri kept to herself.
