Afterword
I am Leonar D, an eternal chuunibyou writer.
To all the readers who picked up this work, to the illustrator Riichu-sensei, and to everyone who lent their support to its publication, I offer my heartfelt gratitude.
This work was serialized on Kakuyomu and won the Grand Prize in the Romantic Comedy category at the 9th Kakuyomu Contest.
Confirming it wasn’t a dream by smacking myself is a fond memory.
Receiving such a prestigious award and, on top of that, publishing a book with Sneaker Bunko, which I’ve been reading since my student days, fills me with overwhelming emotion. I feel as if I’m ascending to the heavens.
Now, this work was born from a whim to try an otome game reincarnation story from a male perspective, something that’s been popping up more often lately.
It started as a short story, went through countless trials and errors, and after reworking the concept multiple times, it has finally reached you as a published book.
A protagonist who nurtures the heroine, much like in The Tale of Genji.
A heroine who admires the protagonist, ignoring the capture targets she was supposed to end up with.
I hope you’ll enjoy the frustrating yet heartwarming story of these two.
Thanks to Riichu-sensei’s wonderful illustrations, Reina’s cuteness shines through, and I personally believe this is a masterpiece I’m proud of.
How will Clarel and Reina’s love (or something like it?) progress—or perhaps not progress at all?
I’d be overjoyed if you’d continue to watch over them.
Until the day we meet again, I pray to all gods, Buddhas, and demons.
