Afterword
Hello, I’m Kagami Yuu. It’s been a while, or perhaps nice to meet you for the first time.
Following my previous work, a “imouto story,” this time it’s a “maid story.” You might think my works are blatantly indulgent in my personal tastes, and you’d be absolutely right.
This guy named Kagami Yuu is the kind of writer where it’s rarer for a story *not* to feature a maid outfit. I’ve always dreamed of releasing a maid story someday.
This time, my dream came true with Dengeki Bunko, and I went all out!
That said, this work actually went through quite a bit of trial and error.
At first, it was going to be a maid harem story. I thought, “The more maids, the merrier, right? Plus, I’m a fan of harems myself.” I even wrote a complete draft, and it was fun, but something felt lacking. After much refining, the beautiful yet enigmatic maid, Sayaka-san, was born. (I’d still love to do a maid harem somewhere down the line, though!)
I was particular about not making the heroine just someone who wears a maid outfit.
That led me to think we’d need an aristocrat who could give orders to a maid. While depicting a modern aristocratic society and the fate of a heroine who becomes a maid—ugh, that sounds so stiff. It’s a story about adorably portraying the mysterious maid Sayaka and letting you experience her drama.
I’d be even happier if you come to like the aristocratic Maritsuji-san, the neutral Maki, the currently spectating Reizen-sensei, and the other heroines as well.
To Higeneko-sama, thank you for the wonderful illustrations! When Sayaka’s design was first sent to me, I thought, “This is it!” Normally, I’d request a few tweaks, but I felt it would be a shame if my input altered such a perfect design.
To my editor, thank you as well! I’m so sorry for making you wait endlessly until I was satisfied. But I think the result is a great work because of it!
I’m working hard to ensure you won’t have to wait too long for the continuation, so I’d be thrilled if you’d read that as well!
