Afterword
Hello, Hitsuji Tarou here. This time, the fifth volume of Akashic Records of the Bastard Magic Instructor has finally been published. The fifth volume already. Looking back, it feels like time has flown by so quickly.
To my editor, everyone involved in publishing, and all the readers who have supported Rokudenashi, I offer my infinite gratitude. Thank you so much!
Now… about this fifth volume.
Amazingly, the white cat herself, Sistine, finally gets her chance to shine! Up until now, she’s been relentlessly teased from all sides as “the heroine (lol),” “a character with mysterious purpose,” “the joke heroine,” “the gag heroine,” or even “the unnecessary girl.” Poor thing. But now, she’s making a grand comeback.
Phew, I’m honestly relieved to have finally written this story.
As the author, I’ve given her a specific role, and she’s finally starting to embody it.
You see, Sistine, Rumia, and Re=L—the three girls—were each characterized by how they interact with Glenn.
Rumia represents devotion. She understands Glenn better than anyone, quietly standing by his side and supporting him. In return, Glenn feels compelled to protect and support her.
Re=L represents dependence. Still young and immature, she clings to Glenn as her anchor, but she’s gradually growing mentally, with Glenn helping her along the way.
So, what about Sistine? How does she relate to Glenn?
In this fifth volume, I’ve done my absolute best to depict a glimpse of that answer with all my heart and effort. My writing may be clumsy, but I sincerely hope it resonates with you, the readers.
I humbly ask that you continue to support Sistine as a character, alongside the story of Rokudenashi, moving forward…
…And that’s that. I’d love to wrap things up smoothly like this.
But… what’s this? This fifth volume… now that I think about it…
It feels like that new guy who debuted this time completely stole the show.
…Why is that?
