Afterword
Hello, this is Hitsuji Tarou.
This time, we’ve reached the publication of Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor, Volume 2.
To the editors, publishers, and all the readers who read the first volume and supported and cheered for it, I offer my infinite gratitude. Thank you so much!
By the way, regarding the publication of Volume 2, the first thing that comes to my mind is,
“This protagonist is still the same as ever…”
I’m astonished at myself for writing this, but even though he improved somewhat after the events of Volume 1, Glenn-kun continues to unabashedly showcase his hopeless human nature. Well, people don’t change so easily, do they? In that sense, he might be a very human protagonist.
Honestly, I wish Glenn-kun would take a page out of my book, his creator.
After all, during my student days, I was so addicted to mahjong that it interfered with my studies, the true duty of a student. Realizing this wouldn’t do, I resolved to focus on my studies and successfully retired from mahjong. And I did it three times! How’s that? Pretty impressive, right?
As you can see, if a person has the discernment to recognize what truly matters and the noble, unwavering willpower to act on it, no matter how hopeless they are now, they can change themselves as much as they want in time.
Well, Glenn-kun is still a protagonist, flawed or not. As the story progresses, I’m sure he’ll learn a lot and grow mentally.
…Or so I vaguely thought while playing mahjong with my colleagues at work, during a break after finishing the manuscript for Volume 2.
Huh? What? Hahaha, I know exactly what you all want to say.
Don’t worry! We didn’t bet any money at all! Gambling is bad, absolutely not.
Anyway, putting such trivial matters aside, Volume 2 includes some supplementary elements to flesh out the world that couldn’t be fully explored in Volume 1. What kind of culture and background does this world have? What countries exist? What kind of people are at the magic academy? Through the event of the Magic Tournament, I hope to dig deeper into the world of Rokudenashi.
The story of a young man who can’t quite grow up, Volume 2—please look forward to it.
