Hello, this is Hitsuji Taro.

This time, the eighteenth volume of Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor has been published.

I extend my infinite gratitude to the editors, publishing staff, and to all the readers who have supported Akashic Records.

Volume eighteen! We’re finally approaching the milestone of twenty volumes!

And this eighteenth volume serves as something of a prelude to the final battle of the Akashic Records story.

A whirlwind of developments and a torrent of foreshadowing resolutions. In particular, the foreshadowing laid during the relic exploration in volume six has finally been resolved after several years! All of Nameless’s incomprehensible actions and the lingering mysteries from that time were building up to this moment!

Huh? You forgot? Don’t remember what I’m talking about? Yeah, I figured!

I’m really sorry about that! Honestly, I never imagined Akashic Records would continue for this long! I originally planned to resolve the foreshadowing much earlier.

But when you think about it, it’s quite an ironic situation, isn’t it?

Thanks to the passionate support of our readers, this series has reached a cumulative total of 3.6 million copies (as of December 2020), becoming a long-running series. Yet, because it became such a long series, the foreshadowing I gleefully planted to surprise readers someday has been forgotten… Ugh, this job can be tough sometimes (lol).

So, here’s a suggestion from this sheep: if you’re up for it, why not re-read Akashic Records from the first volume?

This work has all sorts of magic woven into it. Now that you’ve read this far, you’ll likely discover things like, “Oh! So that’s what that line meant!” or “That name was mentioned there?!” There are bound to be all sorts of new revelations. I’m sure you’ll find a squid-jerky-like enjoyment, where the more you chew—or read—the more flavor it reveals.

Well, putting that aside.

The main story of Akashic Records is far from over—rather, it’s taken a sudden, dramatic turn at this point. I want to carry this momentum forward and charge toward the end at full speed.

And one more announcement!

Alongside the release of Akashic Records volume eighteen, a new work by yours truly, this sheep, is being published!

The title of this new work is The Magic Knight of the Old Ways!

If Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor is a story of mages, then The Magic Knight of the Old Ways is, as the name suggests, truly a story of knights.

The protagonist, Sid, is a knight who thrived in a legendary era far in the past. Through a twist of fate, he is revived in the modern day, where knights and chivalry have fallen into decline… That’s the gist of the story.

I aimed to create a cool protagonist and a cool story in a different vein from Glenn. If you’re interested, please give it a read!
