This time, the twelfth volume of Akashic Records of the Bastard Magic Instructor has finally been published.
I offer my Infinite gratitude to the editors, publishing staff, and to all the readers who have supported Bastard Magic Instructor.
As for this twelfth volume… well, I’ve been dying to do this!
A raging blizzard! A snowy mountain! A desperate battle in the extreme cold!
Honestly, I find the situation of trembling in the freezing cold on a snowy mountain while fighting for a purpose incredibly thrilling! It’s a personal favorite!
I’ve always wanted to tackle this kind of story, and I finally went for it!
I’ve been warming up to this idea for a while, but due to various story progression constraints, I couldn’t quite make it happen—until now!
This work was truly a challenge for the illustrator (in terms of character outfits), so to Mishima-san, I’m sorry and thank you so much! I’m genuinely delighted to see Glenn and the others in a different style than usual!
And this twelfth volume has become a profoundly significant part of the Bastard Magic Instructor story.
This time, the spotlight shines on Celica-san. As we move toward concluding the Bastard Magic Instructor saga, this was an episode that absolutely could not be skipped.
Just what is Celica’s true identity?
What is the fairy tale The Magician of Melgalius really about?
I believe this volume reveals a glimpse of those mysteries.
Of course, that’s not all this volume covers. There’s a nostalgic reunion with familiar faces, and even that character finally makes a long-awaited appearance. I think I managed to pack in a ton of my idea of “fun” into this volume as well.
If even a fraction of that excitement reaches the readers, if you all enjoy this story even a little, it would truly be the greatest reward for me as an author.
And I have an announcement for all the readers! Actually, I, Hitsuji Taro, will be writing another work in parallel with Bastard Magic Instructor.
The title is Last Round Arthurs.
It’s a story about eleven candidates vying to become the modern King Arthur, competing fiercely, only for a mysterious protagonist, Rintarou Magami, to barge into their battle and stir things up as he pleases. Naturally, the legendary “Knights of the Round Table” make plenty of appearances too.
I even bought and studied Thomas Malory’s original Arthurian legend for this project—a fond memory. Through this work, I hope to express my “new” interpretation of the Arthurian legend.
It’s another story where I’ve thrown a fastball straight down the middle with all my might, so if you love Bastard Magic Instructor or Arthurian legends, please give it a try.
